Pre-K Gymnastics Coach (Part-Time: 12 – 30 hours per week)
Location: Galaxy Sports Group, Inc. | Bakersfield, CA
Reports to: Program Director
Schedule: Weekday Evenings and Saturday Mornings
Compensation: $18-$22 per hour
Galaxy is a local family-owned studio with small coach-to-athlete ratios and a welcoming vibe. We build strong bodies, confident minds, and a love of movement. We prioritize athlete safety and aim to bring the best out of each and every athlete, regardless of their level of gymnastics experience.
What you’ll do
- Teach engaging, safety-first classes.
- Lead warmups, create stations, teach skill progressions across floor, beam, bars, and vault and provide hands-on spotting of new skills.
- Give clear, upbeat corrections and celebrate small wins.
- Help maintain a tidy, safe gym.
- Track skills, communicate progress to families, and recommend next steps/levels.
- Model Galaxy values: kindness, patience, professionalism, and fun.
- Jump in where needed: class coverage, events, evaluations.
What you bring to the table
- Experience coaching or participating in gymnastics, cheer, acro, dance, or youth athletics.
- An understanding of child development for ages 2-5.
- Comfortable spotting beginner skills and managing small groups.
- Positive, kid-centered communicator who can set clear friendly-but-firm boundaries.
- Reliable, coachable, and team-oriented; shows up ready to help.
- Able to lift/move mats (up to ~40 lbs) and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliable availability: we will work with you around your availability to provide you with a set schedule. Our class hours are typically from 2:00 – 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
- (Preferred) CPR/First Aid certification.
- Must pass FBI/DOJ Live Scan background check.
Nice-to-haves
- Pre-K teaching chops (appropriate motivation techniques, stations, transitions).
- Experience with progress tracking/evaluations.
- Bilingual skills.
